Oh, the Democrats and their staunch opposition to everything Republican. I get it. They lost the big election in 2016 after midterms during the Obama Administration continued to extend the GOP’s lead, in the House and Senate.
Now the House Intelligence Committee’s memo is on the brink of being released to the public. Americans will finally see the scope of the corruption and abuse of power that took place back in 2016, during the Presidential election, at the hands of the Intelligence Community under the Obama administration. This has sent many Democrats, across the nation, reeling. House Intelligence Committee member Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been whining about the memo, ever since the committee voted for its release, and Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) sent it to the White House for review. He even went so far as to accuse Nunes of altering the memo, before subsequently turning it over to the Trump administration.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), however, issued a pretty harsh rebuke of Rep. Schiff, explaining away the outspoken California Congressman’s concerns with this message:
“My Democratic colleagues didn’t want us to find this information. They did everything they could to keep us from finding this information. A think it will be embarrassing to Adam Schiff once people realize the extent to which he went to keep them from learning this. That would be the embarrassment…” -Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning.
Beyond Schiff’s attempt to muddy the waters over the memo release, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) has decided to issue a threat of his own. On Twitter Wednesday morning, Sen. Wyden issued this cryptic message:
“If this memo comes out, I have a long list of less sensitive, but still classified information that the American people deserve to see. #secretlaw.”
-Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) 11:12 AM-Jan 31 2018
At first glance, it would seem the Senator is talking about airing dirty laundry that would hurt Republicans. After all, Democrats have been running around Washington D.C. with their hair on fire, trying to rebut the memo before it has even been released. Apparently, the Senator must have some “less sensitive, but still classified” dirt on the Republicans, right?
Wrong. The Senator’s own spokesperson came out and shot down any ideas that Wyden meant he had countervailing information to the House Intelligence Committee’s memo. He implored individuals in the media to look further into the Senator’s comments, and the history behind what he was talking about, before judging his original tweet. Upon further review of the background information, regarding the tweet issued by Sen. Wyden, it would appear the Dems have no cause to celebrate.
The Senator really has been leading a “fight” against what he calls a “secret law,” which the Intelligence Community has been using to open up the Patriot Act to grow the power of Intelligence Agencies to spy on Americans. There is no threat to the Republicans in this endeavor. However, that will not take the wind out of the sails of the rest of the obstructionist Democrats, who are fighting diligently to keep the information from the memo secret.
It appears the “bombshell” the Senator from Oregon has, is one that will blow the lid off the Intelligence Community and their abuse of power. It will not weaken the evidence in the memo. For that, the Democrats must continue to look elsewhere.
Do you think the Democrats will succeed in stopping the release of the memo?
